Mark Twain National Forest

While Ha Ha Tonka State Park in the middle of Missouri is most known for the massive castle remains at its center, it has much more to offer. Set alongside the Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks, the park was purchased and built as private property by Kansas City industrialist Robert McClure Snyder, Sr. in 1905.

Sadly destroyed by fire in the 1940s, the stone mansion he erected today makes for fantastic sight and is the park’s defining feature. Its gorgeous brick arches and powerful stone walls, which are modeled after European castles from the 16th century, overlook the glistening lake below, which is today utilized for swimming and boating. Amazing caves, sinkholes, and bluffs surround the castle, while scenic hiking routes wind through the park’s woodlands and karst landscapes.

Branson

Branson, located in southwest Missouri, is a vibrant, festive town that is sometimes referred to as a “family-friendly Las Vegas.” This is because it has over a hundred entertainment venues strewn along its neon-lit strip, all of which feature a variety of spellbinding magic, music, and comedy events.

There are numerous motels and restaurants in the area, as well as attractions such as the Titanic Museum, Ripley’s Odditorium, and the Hollywood Wax Museum. In Branson, amusement parks abound, and family-friendly activities like go-karting, mini-golf, and ziplining abound.
